Geiranger (Dagbladet): This week Princess Märtha and Doric Verret visited Ålesund and Geiranger, apparently to discuss plans for their four-day wedding in August.
-Are you looking forward to the wedding? Dagbladet asks Doric Verret when we meet him at the reception of the Hotel Union in Geiranger on Tuesday.
– Of course, I will marry the woman of my dreams, the groom answers.
Translated into Norwegian: – Of course I will marry the woman of my dreams.
On Tuesday, Princess Märtha and Doric Verret visited the town of Geiranger in the heart of Storfjorden in Sunnmøre to plan the wedding that will take place here on August 31.
He plans a meeting
In a closed room on the first floor of the traditional hotel built in 1891, with the curtains completely drawn, the newlyweds and several others gathered around the meeting table.
There is clearly a good atmosphere around the table, they are smiling and laughing as they leaf through the cards.
A television team will be present for large parts of the meeting.
At a quarter past four, the princess and her fiancé went out for a quick tour of the other meeting rooms, before Princess Martha graciously received the Dagbladet envoys and disappeared to take their jackets.
Durek Verrett sits on one of the couches in the lobby. Geiranger isn't showing its best side on this June day, as Westland rain pelts the ground. This does not worry the Americans.
“I think it will be beautiful no matter rain or shine,” he says to Dagbladet.
-Is planning going well?
– Yes, everything is going well, answers Doric Verret.
Happy with the horses
He goes on to say that he actually fell in love with Geiranger the first time they visited the place, but he doesn't remember exactly when that happened.
On Monday this week, the day before the Geiranger 1000 race, the pair visited the stables of veteran Olympic and show jumper Geir Gulliksen in Leer. Duric emphasizes that, like his girlfriend, he is very fond of horses.
– I'm riding. I started with the western style, but now I have switched to the English style. It's something fundamental and deeply spiritual for Marta, says Doric Veret.
Doric Verret and Princess Martha were then escorted to the car, well protected by umbrellas, before Geiranger departed. For this time.
