Demonstration activists | Golf stars shaken after an American scandal: – Fear for their lives

Sunday was the final round of the Travelers Championship in Connecticut, where there was a tough showdown between world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and mega-talent Tom Kim.

The first was in the lead with Akshay Bhatia, but everything was about to go down as the audience witnessed dramatic scenes.

Several campaign participants stepped onto the green during the final hole of the tournament, where, among other things, they brought smoke bombs and scattered the green.

Several guards quickly arrived at the scene, but the situation was chaotic, to say the least.

– I feared for my life, because I did not understand what really happened. Fortunately, the police were there and kept us safe. It was a strange situation, Bhatia told CBS, which had space for the orchestra for everything.

Many of the campaigners wore T-shirts that read “No golf on a dead planet.” The climate group Extinction Rebellion will be behind it.

-You are in shock. I was just trying to escape, so I got hysterical along the way. It was difficult to calm down again.

This is how it looked from the stands:

Despite the violent riot, world number one Schaeffler coped well, eventually winning the tournament after a playoff against Kim.

This is Schaeffler's sixth win this season.
