Trond Jensen was on his way to Skjarhalten to collect his wife when he lost his life.
– As always, they went on vacation together on a boat. No words, says public interest lawyer Helge Hartz on behalf of the family.
On Sunday afternoon, the 75-year-old from Gjøvik was out on the Oslofjord with his sailboat when he collided with a cabin vessel between Rødtangen and Langøya.
– He is a very experienced sailor. The Swedish coast is his second home, and
He did not know the length from the coast of Helgeland to the Oslofjord.
Jensen had his own blog where he kept his family, friends and anyone interested in life at sea.
– He sailed his first yacht in Mjøsa, where he captained the sailing team for a time. Mjøsa soon became too small, and from 2009 the sea became his Eldorado.
Jensen was for many years president of the Vestoppland Lærerlag/Uddanningsforbundet and principal of a primary and secondary school.
– He was concerned with political and social issues. He read many Norwegian and foreign newspapers daily, Hartz says.
Man accused: – Hard time
Multiple units from the police, fire department and health department responded to the incident.
Later, police found a 75-year-old man in the boat. His life could not be saved.
The driver of the cabin cruiser, a man in his 50s, has been charged with negligently causing the death of another.
– My client is having a difficult time and is traumatized by the incident, his defense attorney Ann Johnson told VG on Wednesday.
When it comes to criminal wrongdoing, Johnson says it's too early to get into the question right now.
Examination of witnesses
On Tuesday, police prosecutor Don Bisting told the VG they were working on interviewing witnesses who came forward.
Even then they had no eyewitnesses to the actual conflict.
– Going forward, the police is about gathering all the information that can shed light on the conflict.
