The deal itself is worth NOK 2.3 billion, plus a fixed-price option for more air defence for NOK 2.5 billion, the Ministry of Defence wrote in a report. press release.
Deliveries are expected to begin in 2027. The defence equipment contract includes new multiple rocket launchers and new NASAMS fire control centres, replacing equipment previously donated to Ukraine.
Ensures fast delivery
– We are now working on increasing the size and modernizing the existing NASAMS system with modern equipment that can shoot down different targets. Today's security policy situation requires us to abandon the development of air defense and modernization of NASAMS. This agreement ensures rapid delivery to the Norwegian Armed Forces and contributes to increasing the production capacity of the defense industry, says Defense Minister Björn Arild Gram.
Provided that this option is exercised, Defense Material will have contracts in place within just one year and have begun delivering NASAMS materials to four air defense batteries, Kongsberg wrote in a press release.

Latest generation
– The advanced air defence system is of strategic importance to Norway’s defence capability and is crucial to protecting our national security interests. This delivery will provide Norway with the latest generation of NASAMS, developed to meet current and future threats, says CEO Eric Lie of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
In the long-term plan for the defense sector, plans are being drawn up to double the number of anti-aircraft batteries, so that several places in the country can be protected from air threats at the same time.
