Tour de France: – Kissing the wife

Julien Bernard, 32, has been fined by the International Cycling Union for stopping and kissing his wife while riding on Friday.

This causes Magnus Kurt to react.

– Change plans

The Lidl-Trek rider himself posted a screenshot of the UCI decision on his own media channels. There it appears that he will have to pay more than 200 Swiss francs (2300 Norwegian kroner).

During Friday's individual pace stage, the Frenchman chose to stop and kiss his wife who was standing along the way.

It did not sit well with the UCI, who chose to fine Bernard for “improper behaviour and damage to the reputation of the sport”.

“I want to apologize to the UCI for damaging the reputation of the sport, but I would pay 200 Swiss francs every day to relive that moment,” he wrote sarcastically on X.

TV 2 cycling expert Magnus Dreifens reacts strongly to Bernhard's fine.

– If there is anyone who is ruining the image of cycling, it is the incompetent commissioners who can't do anything, a frustrated Drivenes tells Dagbladet.

Magnus Kurt, who earlier in this year's Tour de France did the same thing as Bernard, also reacted to the UCI's decision.

“What a joke. I guess I was lucky they didn’t realize I did it a few days ago,” Kurt writes on X, accompanying a video of him kissing his girlfriend.

The pace stage was held on Friday just an hour and a half from Bernard's home.

“I was really looking forward to this day. I knew my wife and family were on the ground. I wanted to enjoy every moment. It was a dream moment for me,” Bernard told Cyclingnews.
