TikTok Star Bella Brave In Coma: Mom Shares Heartbreaking Message

Bella Thompson, 10, from Saskatchewan, Canada, was born with multiple genetic challenges and spent the first two years of her life in hospital. Despite being 10 years old, Bella is no taller than a one-year-old.

Bella (8 years old) is as small as a one year old baby.

A genetic error has caused Bella to have CHH – cartilage and hair hypoplasia syndrome in Norwegian. Characteristics include short stature, thin hair, immune deficiency and low blood counts.

Her immune deficiency means Bella can die from colds, and she can't absorb nutrition the way she normally would because parts of her intestines aren't working.

The parents hope the intestinal transplant will change her life.

– I don't know if she'll survive.

Now there is devastating news about Bella's health. A few days ago it was learned that the 10-year-old had a lung infection.

Now the mother says her daughter has been intubated and is in a medically induced coma. She's sharing it on Instagram, according to Entertainment tonight.

– New crisis

“Bella is stable and has been admitted to the intensive care unit,” she wrote, adding that doctors believe her condition may be caused by bronchiolitis obliterans, also known as “popcorn lung.”

according to American Lung Association So-called “popcorn lung” is a serious and rare lung disease that gets worse over time. The disease got its name because it occurred among workers in a microwave popcorn factory.

The workers became ill after inhaling diacetyl, a chemical found in the flavoring used in popcorn. Diacetyl is used to make many flavors other than popcorn, including candy. Inhaling the harmful substance is the main cause of the illness.

“They told us they didn’t know if she was going to make it through this. I know she was going to make it. I know she has a whole army praying for her,” Bella’s mom continues in the post.

Furthermore, Kayla shared that her daughter lost four pounds in one day, and that she used all her energy just to breathe. Finally, Bella became delirium (a severe state of confusion, notes the magazine).

“They knew at that point they had to sedate and intubate her before she crashed. We were told they didn’t know if she would make it through the night, but she did.”

– The waiting time is unbearable.

In a later update, Kayla wrote that at 5 p.m. yesterday they found out Bella's CT scan results. She and her husband were braced for disappointing news, and cried when they heard the results.

“The best of the best told us it looked very bad, but I kept my eyes open and listened intently until I heard what was left of hope.”

Furthermore, Kayla explained that there was a rapid deterioration in Bella's lungs, and they believe it may be an immune response (a reaction between antigens and corresponding antibodies or activated lymphocytes, note in the journal).

The only option left for them to help Bella's lungs work again is massive doses of steroids.

“We are on day two of these doses, and day three will give us more information about when we can tell if lung function is improving,” she wrote bluntly.

“Lyle and I talk to her, I play her music and we read all the cards and letters and messages she's sent,” she continues, adding that the wait is unbearable.
