Viktor Sotberg Abused in Crypto Scam – Fans Reportedly Lost 15,000 NOK

It's nothing new for celebrities to become the victim of abuse in fake news stories.

YouTuber and presenter Viktor Sotberg, 33, has been named in several fake news articles shared on social media in recent weeks.

Sotberg has been active on television in recent years, as a host and reality TV contestant.

The 33-year-old expressed his despair on Instagram, asking people not to be influenced by the articles.

“I don’t know what to do with them, but I hope most people realize that these are fake articles and that they shouldn’t print them,” Sotberg told Channel 2 this week.

Last month, he was reportedly tipped off to several fake articles from Facebook and Instagram that purported to reveal how Sotberg got rich through AI-based cryptocurrency investing.

The purpose of the articles is to trick readers into using the same method.

Unfortunately, many of them also fell into the trap. According to the messages sent by the broadcaster, many of his fans were scammed out of money.

Some write that they were scammed out of several thousand kroner, while others claim to have lost 15,000 kroner in a scam.

Sotberg has been in contact with others who have been victimized by similar scams, and has been told that it is difficult to track down the perpetrators, so he doesn’t think reporting this case will help either.

The presenter suspects that the scammers wanted to reach the younger target group, who are often more susceptible.

It is not uncommon among celebrities.

In recent years, several well-known personal accounts have been the target of fraud attempts, where names and photos are used to deceive consumers on social media. Celebrities include: Ilse Kaas-Förseth, Johan Golden, Fredrik Solvang, John Almaas, Anne Lindemo and Kaveh Rashidi.

The famous doctor, Al-Rashidi, was scammed earlier this year by marketing a miracle cure for prostate cancer. He found it disturbing when he was contacted by many people who bought what they thought would cure their cancer.

“This is as ridiculous and damning as it gets. Cancer money scam!? I’m reviewing it, but I doubt it’ll help much at first. So be careful, there’s a lot of junk on the internet that’s supposed to make us healthier,” Rashidi wrote in an Instagram post earlier this year.

Mats Bonnes, Deputy Director of the Norwegian Consumer Protection Agency, says: Come on 24 They receive complaints about the misuse of celebrities' names and images without their consent.
