Planica (Dagbladet): The showjumping team has been lacking a sponsor since last spring. Then LO withdrew. A year soon approached that Halvor Egner Granrod & Co. It was without a brand logo on the helmet.

An internal change in the Norwegian Ski Association’s jumping department meant that Bråthen was no longer the one with main responsibility for the search for a new general sponsor.

– We’ve made a small change. Arne Åbråten is in charge of the business, Bråthen told Dagbladet.

I mainly focus on sports. We are trying to refine the roles more.

Bråthen explains:

– I’m not out of business, but I no longer have the responsibility that I used to have. Arnie – a professional – had better take full responsibility. I am a resource he can play on, rather than me being the one controlling this.

Åbråten has long been the ski association’s marketing coordinator.

Dagbladet understands that there is growing frustration associated with the fact that the issue of sponsorship has not been resolved. While people roam across the country and jumble like WC’s live advertising banners, it’s even more attractive with the banners on the jumpers. Nammo, Help and DinTur.no are currently on the sponsor page.

The challenges are also seen in the context of the conflict between Bråthen and the Norwegian Ski Association, which has raged over several months. Bråthen has previously stated that sponsorship work should be postponed during this period. It reportedly cost jumpers dearly.

The general sponsor will have the logo on the jumper’s helmet, as LO has for many years. OMV, VG and Statoil also had their logos there. During the WC, the GoldenChild charity was awarded the venue.

– We have interested players, but no one has signed the package, says Obratyn about the search for a general sponsor.

– We are talking about Norwegian and foreign players. We have many good prospects that we are working with. We still have a month in the season where jumping is in the spotlight. We should use this time as much as possible, whether during the restroom or the rough atmosphere in the house.

According to Dagbladet’s understanding, the general sponsor will have to offer around ten million kroner in the next few years. The jumpers are also looking for a major sponsor, which is a slightly less comprehensive package than a general sponsor.

– We work with agreements until 2026 in the short term. From a long perspective, until 2030, Abbrwton says.

– A home toilet in Trondheim in 2025 will be important for us commercially – and for the athletes, he says.
