Apple is facing a giant upgrade starting this year.
Winter 2024 to Summer 2025: Plans revealed
Mark Gurman reveals that Apple will update all Macs at the end of the year with a brand new M4 chip with very powerful NPU performance to boost the hardware lineup of the new macOS with artificial intelligence. Apple is planning three versions of the M4 chip which is referred to internally as “Donan” for the cheapest machines (the cheap MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and the cheap Mac mini), and the more powerful “Brava” (the MacBook Pro and for the more expensive Mac mini). and the top model, the “Hidra” (Mac Pro.) As with the iPad, Apple is suffering a 27 percent decline in Mac sales during its previous financial results report. The company has to upgrade the AI on the software and hardware side.
Gorman was somewhat negative about the M3, which came shortly after the launch of the M2: “Apple tried to breathe new life into the Mac business with an M3-focused launch event last October, but those chips didn't offer significant performance improvements over the M2 of last year's.
schedule
Apple is spreading the launch out over a few months: the first devices will launch this winter and will continue to launch devices with the M4 in early 2025 — this includes iMacs, the cheaper MacBook Pro 14, the faster MacBook Pro 14, and 16-inch models. Mac mini is also launching in different configurations.
During the spring of 2025, the MacBook Air series will be upgraded with 13- and 15-inch machines, then a new Mac Studio will arrive in the summer of 2025 and a Mac Pro later that year.
