High demand means Scandic Brennemoen needs more space.
In October 2018, Scandic Brennemoen opened with 99 rooms and facilities for training courses and conferences halfway between Askim and Mysen in Indre Østfold, a 45-minute drive from the capital.
The hotel has been a success so far, and we believe director Mette Eklund (51).
– Things are going well with us. We are very busy on weekdays, I’ve been involved since opening, and this means you get a close relationship with the workplace. She tells Hotellmagasinet that there is a great need for more rooms.
In addition to the expansion of 50 double rooms, there is also talk of the possibility of creating a new meeting room on the first floor. If all goes according to plan, work will begin during the fall.
Eklund says that many conferences are held at the hotel, and that many people appreciate that it is not possible to “escape” somewhere else when you are here.
If we have 60-80 people at a conference, we lose many business travelers because we don’t have more room capacity,” says Eklund, who has been the hotel manager since 2020.
Norlandia Hotel Group CEO, Morten A. KahrasHotellmagasinet says that expansion plans have been around for a long time:
– We have achieved very good development in Brynmoen, and from the beginning we made it clear that there was a possibility of expanding by 50 rooms. The hotel has been a huge success in a rapidly growing area. Therefore, this is the right time to start.
The hotel has 20 full-time employees. Eklund has worked in the hotel industry for almost half his life and lives in Trogstad.
-We’re not a holiday destination, so the summer was a little quieter. But now she is making a full recovery, says Mette Eklund.
