Bayer Leverkusen is in the final and has 348 days unbeaten

(Bayer Leverkusen – Roma 2–2, aggregate 4–2) Thanks to a stunning final run against Roma, Bayer Leverkusen broke a 59-year-old record in European club football.

A bizarre own goal from Roma's Gianluca Mancini and then a goal from Josip Stanisic earned Bayer Leverkusen a 2-2 draw and went to the Europa League final – continuing their perfect season without a single defeat.

This now means 49 matches unbeaten. Specifically, the team has not lost since May 27, 2023, that is, 348 days ago.

The 49 matches is a new record in European club football – one match better than Benfica in the period from 1963 to 1965.

Leverkusen have a total of 40 wins and nine draws in all competitions in 2023/2024.

– The goalkeeping is unlucky, says Viaplay expert Lars Tjarnas after Leverkusen's goal was reduced to 1-2 – saving last place.

Mile Svilar, who was brilliant against Roma, completely missed a corner kick. Thus, the ball hit Gianluca Mancini, who sent the ball “perfectly” into his goal.

However, it was the Eternal City players who took the lead and before half-time the score was 1-0 to Roma when Jonathan Tah won a penalty. Leandro Paredes scored from the 11-meter mark.

Before that, Bayer Leverkusen were the best, but Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar played big.

After just over an hour of play, Roma conceded a penalty for handball, with Leandro Paredes scoring another penalty. 2–0, and they were the same distance.
