Apartment fire in Bergen
Emergency services have responded to a fire at an apartment complex in Knotland, Bergen. The fire spread through the roof and is yet to be brought under control.
At 11:31 p.m., 110 West reports that the fire service has extinguished the fire, but there is no report of an on-site investigation. The roof structure is still burning.
– At 10.37 pm we got information about heavy smoke. The fire brigade has arrived and they are starting to put out the outside, says the duty commander at 110 Central Jostine Steinsland Hauge.
Pictures of the first car ahead showed flames, he says.
– Regarding the apartment that caught fire, it is not clear if there are people there, says Dan Eric Johansen, operations manager for the Western Police District.
There is a risk of transmission. The area is very windy.
– If there are people inside, the fire service starts life-saving efforts, Steinsland Hodge says.
Firefighters have been evacuated from Fana, Sandviken, Laksevåg and the main station.
NRK's reporter at the scene says the scene was completely engulfed in flames.
– As soon as we got here we started to evacuate the block in question and the blocks nearby, says Johannesen.
It is too early to say anything about the cause of the fire.
