Blind passengers hid in the equipment room:

On Saturday, a 26-year-old man was arrested after hiding in the equipment room of an aircraft, according to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Writes CNN.

The 26-year-old hid in a room on the underside of an American Airlines plane during a flight from Guatemala City to Miami – a two-and-a-half hour flight.

According to the company, the man was unharmed.

Extremely high risk

In a video posted to Instagram, you can see that American Airlines employees carry in their arms a man who appears tired, just before he sits on the floor.

The video also shows images of the equipment compartment on the underside of the aircraft on the right wing, where the man was staying.

People are at very high risk when they hide in cramped rooms on planes, says a statement from CBP.

The Miami-Dade Fire Department confirmed to CNN that it had taken the man to a local hospital for medical evaluation.

According to the US Civil Aviation Authority (FAA), 129 people have tried to hide in wheel wells and elsewhere on commercial aircraft since 1947. Of those, 100 have died as a result of injuries or exposure, according to the agency. Writes Watchman.

remand

According to American Airlines, the plane was received by police after landing for safety reasons. The airline stated, on Saturday, that it is now cooperating with the US authorities in an investigation.

Immigration attorney Angel Leal says the man will now be taken back into custody by the authorities.

Leal told WTVJ that the blind Guatemalan passenger will be detained by the Ministry of the Interior, at the same time he faces an urgent return order. Writes Watchman.
