The U18 team lost to Hertha Berlin

United’s under-18s, like the U16 team, are in the SuperCupNI tournament, and they kicked off Monday night with a 2-1 loss to Germany’s Hertha Berlin. Victor Moses busted United’s side, just before the end.

Victory in the opener in the SuperCupNI

United’s Under-16s started the SuperCupNI ‘Premier’ category with a match against Dundalk SL from Northern Ireland.

It ended up with three points and a good start after being scored by Jesse Fitzgerald. This is despite the fact that Bendito Mantato received a straight red card in the first half of the match.

12 (!) – year-old Duka Nkoto Abdoulaye should have come off the bench.

The team’s next match is against the Japanese Ichifuna on a Tuesday afternoon. The U18 team begins its tournament with a match at 20:45, where the opponent is Hertha Berlin.

Giuseppe Rossi begins

Former United striker and Italy international Giuseppe Rossi, 36, has retired after a career plagued by major injury problems.

On his Instagram profile, the Italian comes up with a heartfelt message for his followers, thanking him for the incredible journey he took from jogging in his father’s garden to playing football at the highest level.

The Italian was brought to United from Parma in 2004, at the age of 17, but he was unable to make an impact in the United shirt and was loaned out to Newcastle and to his parent club Parma in the 2006/07 season.

In total, he won 14 appearances (6 as a starter and 8 as a substitute) in his three years at United. He managed to score four goals before being sold to Spain’s Villarreal.

SuperCupNI lineups announced

Every summer, United travels with teams to Northern Ireland to play the SuperCupNI, formerly known as the NI Milk Cup.

The tournament is one of the most prestigious youth tournaments in the world with a high level that gives boys and girls from all over the world the opportunity to participate in a week-long football party.

This year, United are fielding two teams who will be competing in two different categories. The team that will take part in the “Boys Premier” consists of, among others, Shea Lacey, Jayce Fitzgerald and Bendito Mantato, who have some experience at the U18 level already, but play here at the U16 category. They face Dundalk Schoolboys League of Northern Ireland, Fermanagh of Northern Ireland and Japan’s Ichifuna in the group stage. The winner of the group advances to the semi-finals.

In the second group, which will play in the “Boys Elite” category, we find many well-known names from the U18 squad. James Nolan, Finlay McCallister, Reese Monero and Adam Scanlon are all among those on the cruise. The format in this chapter is a little different. There are a total of four teams in this category, so there will be only three matches for that team, and the winner of the group is the winner of the tournament. United will face Hertha Berlin, Valencia and Liverpool here
