Britney Spears’ father will not be a guardian – NRK Norway – News overview from different parts of the country

Celebrity website TMZ gained access to documents sent by the father’s lawyer. It states that he no longer wants to be the guardian of his daughter.

Thus, the long-running public and bitter feud between Britney and her father, who has been her guardian for 13 years, may be over.

No self-criticism

Although he recognizes himself as a trustee, Jamie Spears takes no self-criticism for the work he did, on the contrary.

“There is no real reason to remove Spears from the position of trustee, and it is highly doubtful whether a change of regent at this time would be in Miss Spears’ best interest,” the attorney wrote in the document.

Moreover, she says:

“However, since Mr. Spears has been subjected to repeated, baseless attacks, he believes that the ongoing public struggle against his daughter would not be in her best interest either.”

In court documents, the attorney further wrote that “regardless of Mr. Spears’ official title, he will always be her father, love her unconditionally and look out for her best interests.”

TMZ has also been in contact with Britney’s attorney Matthew Rosengart.

– We are happy, but not necessarily surprised because he and his lawyer understood that he should be removed. We are still disappointed by his continued rude and reprehensible attacks on his daughter, Rosengart tells the site and adds:

In the meantime, Jimmy Spears should be calm and withdraw immediately, instead of making false accusations and cheap attacks on and against his daughter.

Guardian for 13 years

The guardianship plan was implemented after the star suffered major mental problems in 2007 and 2008.

During a court hearing in June, Spears made it clear for the first time publicly his father’s guardianship.

“I deserve to have a life,” said the 39-year-old in a long, passionate talk.

And that she had to take lithium against her will. This left Spears mentally exhausted, she said.

Britney said her father’s control over her and her life was painful. In addition to medication, the 39-year-old was forced to go to treatment and refused to have an IUD removed so that she could become pregnant.

So, while he will continue to challenge the baseless claim to remove him from the trustee position, Mr. Spears will work with the court and his daughter’s new attorney for a smooth transition to a new trustee.
