The Norwegian tennis professional played big on Saturday and won the ATP 250 final against Czech Tomas Machak.

The Norwegian won the first set 7-5 after a brilliant recovery. He won the second set 6-3.

The tournament in Geneva, Switzerland, is Ruud's final test before he sets out with a grand slam at the French Open.

This was Ruud's 12th ATP tournament win of his career.

Heavy start

Opponent Macak reached the final after defeating Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals. The Czechs are ranked 44th in the world and were not seeded in the tournament.

The two met for the first time at the Australian Open in 2023. The Norwegian then won 2-1 in two sets.

Mattak opened the match well on Saturday, breaking the Norwegian's serve cleanly in the third game of the match. Ruud put pressure on the Czech in the next match, but he was unable to prevent him from confirming the break.

Ruud topped the Geneva tournament in 2022 and 2021, and played his third final there in four years. The next task after the final is the Grand Slam tournament Roland Garros in Paris. He has reached the final there the last two years.

The Norwegian could risk starting the tournament in Paris already on Sunday, but he will have at least one rest day before starting his first match.
