Australian chef and restaurateur Bill Granger has died at the age of 54.
The family confirms the news on social media.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Granger on December 25. He was a devoted husband and father. Bill passed away peacefully in hospital, surrounded by his wife Natalie Elliott and their three daughters Edie, Ennis and Bunny.”
In 1999, Granger and his wife, Natalie, began their restaurant careers together. Over the years, they have opened a total of 19 restaurants.
The family wrote in a statement that the chef will be remembered as the “King of Breakfast.” Earlier this year, Granger was awarded an Medal of the Order of Australia for his work.
The cause of death is currently unknown.

He's not the only one to pay tribute to Granger after the family announced the tragic news. TV chef Nigella Lawson writes that it's hard to find the right words.
– It is heartbreaking to hear that Bill Granger has died. He was the most amazing man I feel so sad for the family. It's very cruel, she wrote in an Instagram post.
