Choose the right flooring for the country house

With autumn vacation behind us and a cold winter ahead, it’s time to get the latest

Shock for larger or smaller projects at the cottage. When choosing a floor for a cabin, there are several things to consider.

PIO Color and Interior (Ifi) has prepared three good tips!

bring nature

With a new floor, the whole room gets a new style. Parquet floors add an exclusive and natural touch to any interior. In a modern cabin with electricity and a stable indoor climate, laminate floors are an excellent option. The photo shows parquet with a pattern from the Tarkett Noble collection. Photo: Tarquette

– Parquet is a really beautiful flooring, which many are very good at arranging. In the Nordic countries, real wood flooring is something we all have a relationship with. Nothing is more comfortable to live on than real organics, says Artistic Director Espen Justin at Tarkett.

But living matter is affected by climate, feel free to think about it; If you have a room with a constant temperature all year round, parquet is ideal, but large fluctuations in temperature can cause problems. This is because wood moves depending on how cold or hot the room is and how high the humidity is.

– In a modern cabin with installed electricity and a stable indoor climate, you can lay parquet without problems, says Josten.

durable with laminate

When choosing a cabin floor, a practical option is often preferable. Laminate floors are easy to clean and resistant to spills and scratches. It fits in any room, and is perfect for a hallway where it’s trampled on with wet boots, snow-covered dog claws, and muddy boots – without damaging the floor.

My advice to those of you who will be renovating this fall is to choose a floor that can withstand the Norwegian climate and all the mud we bring with us now that it’s autumn and after every winter. So laminate flooring is a good alternative. It’s water-resistant, very durable, and has good scratch resistance, says Pergo’s Sofie Linge.

went on fleece

The use of round rugs gives a unique dynamism to the room, while the round shape helps soften the impression of skewed corners. Here's Ted - a small round fleece blanket. The rug provides a soft contrast to the hardwood floors and contributes to a warm and cozy atmosphere. A rug can be a visually (and physically) relaxing experience, making a room quick, unique, and softer. There are carpets for each floor in different materials, colors and patterns.

Carpet is the perfect style innovation, and it’s the easiest way to renovate a room’s décor. It’s just a matter of figuring out that different numerators have different expressions, says Torhild Rustenberg of InHouse.

If you have a mountain hut, woolen rugs are a great option, as these floors are extremely cold. Blankets will make getting into the cabin a more pleasant experience, especially in cabins where there is no underfloor heating or the possibility of quick heating.
