World number one Novak Djokovic had to put up a rare effort as he advanced to the fourth round at Roland Garros. This made the Serbs falter.

Only at 22.45 Norwegian time on Saturday, the third round match against Italian Lorenzo Musetti began. The match, which was decided over five sets, did not end until shortly after 3pm on Sunday.

– I don't want to participate in the discussion, but I think some things could have been dealt with differently. There's a certain magic to winning a game at 3am, if it's the last one in the tournament. Djokovic said, according to Agence France-Presse: This was not the case.

Several top players, including Djokovic, Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev, had to work hard in their third-round matches. World No. 6 Andrey Rublev has disappeared.

– Physically, I was at my limits. When you're on 20+ swings at 2 a.m…. then who's playing games? We play many games at that point throughout our lives. “The conditions were very difficult, and it was very cold,” the world leader continued.

The Serbian eventually beat Musetti with set scores of 7-5, 6-7 (6-8), 2-6, 6-3, 6-0. In the fourth round, Djokovic will face Argentine Francisco Cerundolo. If he reaches the quarter-finals, Casper Ruud could be an opponent.
