Bo, Telemark [Nettavisen]: February is the time to launch new food products in stores.
But what the industry doesn't talk about much is all the goods being cut forever.
Now many Grandiosa brands are disappearing, Freya is discontinuing its chocolate bars, Tyne is discontinuing any more Joe Morgen yoghurts, and it is no longer possible to buy a low-fat milk. The Nugatti type was also cut.
– It has more than 1000 products
Orkla is the country's largest supplier to grocery stores. At the same time as they are launching a slew of new variants, the list is also long when it comes to the products that will be released.
– Yes, we have more than 1,000 products, and there is always some movement in the portfolio in February, says Communications Director Dag Olaf Stocken.

Among other things, they cut a whole range of Grandiosa's thin bottoms. This means that these items will no longer be available for purchase:
- Thin Bottom Bacon Grandiosa
- Thin Bottom Chicken Grandiosa and Pesto
- Grandiosa thin bottom mozzarella
- Grandiosa pepperoni has a thin bottom
The thin-bottomed versions aren't all that different from competitor Dr. Oetker's pizza. But the numbers indicate that Grandiosa should have lost in that competition.
– Thin Bottom was launched with our range in mind. “We are not satisfied with the sales and will focus on our other concepts to succeed in the pizza market,” says Stokken.
Cotter go morning
Tyne is also one of the largest producers in the country. This means that there will be many launches, but many releases will also be cut.
This time, many versions of Go' Morgen will be gone. Iced coffee, spreadable cheese, and low-fat milk containing 1% fat are also cut out.
– For us at Tina, it is important to meet the needs and desires of the consumer. When we remove products from the range, it is due to reduced market demand, says communications consultant Margaret Hulme-Rogne.
Away from salted caramel
Another product being cut is the Yt Protein Shake with Salted Caramel. Salted caramel was popular a few years ago, but that trend may be fading now. Because even the Nugatti with salted caramel is hard to get.
– We are not satisfied with the sales of salted caramel nougatti, so we will focus on other varieties. Not least the original version, which is the biggest winner over time, says Dag Olav Stocken, communications director at Orkla Foods.
No more liver paste
Both Stabburet and Gilde invested in fresh, coarse liver paste, but this clearly did not catch on. Both are now being cut. Owner Gilde Nortura also cuts some meat pies and pies in addition to his daily bacon.

– Nortura is constantly improving its range, says communications consultant Thomas Cisner Bonafede.
The reason for the reductions is explained as follows:
– He says that there may be sales lower than the expected level, or products may be replaced with new launches, and so on.
The tube cheese disappears
Kavli has several popular tube cheeses, but four cheeses that are not popular enough will be lost. Among others natural spring flower.
Kavli also has Q Dairy, and that's where a few different flavors will be cut, including those with coffee and vanilla.
The reason for the discounts is weak sales, says Kavli CEO, Christine Asheim.
– Miss Elias's potato chips
At the Extra store in Bø, Nettavisen meets Theo Sterner Welfler (23), who is shopping with Inger Karin Edingsås (50).
-I tasted Freya's chocolate there, says Theo. He points to a chocolate bar containing corn and popcorn, which is now being phased out due to poor sales.
“It didn't taste good, so I only bought it once,” he says.
-Do you miss foods that manufacturers cut?
“I miss the Elias potato chips I used to eat when I was little,” Theo says.
The Andersen family is also on a shopping trip. Olivia (9 years old) realizes what she is missing.
“I miss steak,” she says.
Mum Pernille (33) is quick to explain.
-Olivia wishes we had more of it for dinner.
– Or we don't miss a lot of food, and the only thing is Telepølsen that can no longer be bought, says Pernille Andersen.
Here are the products that are disappearing:
Nettavisen contacted some of the biggest suppliers in the Norwegian grocery trade and asked them to identify which products are disappearing this winter. The overview is incomplete, which means there may be more products that were cut, but not included in the overview.
