After it became known who will be participating in this year's “Married at First Sight,” reactions were quick for some of the participants.
This year, there are many famous faces, including Catherine Brana (32), Johannes Klemp (31), and Simin Komenje (31). The remaining nine participants are fairly unknown to most people.
Going on a date on TV – again
All three of them have appeared on various TV shows in the past, and this is exactly what makes people react.
TV viewers are frustrated
Previous seasons of Married at First Sight only featured unknown people who had never appeared on television before. The fact that the reality show contestants are now the ones getting the chance to find love is making people see red.
In various forums and comment areas, people clearly expressed their frustration.
“I loved this show, but when I saw there were former contestants on the reality show this year, I haven't gotten around to watching it yet,” one wrote.
“Why make all reality show the same shit? It's like that with 'Ex on the Beach' and 'Paradise Hotel'. At first I thought this show was fun. Can't they bring in some new people instead of dragging the same people into whatever it airs on TV?”, asks another.
Strongly Disagree
Johannes Klemp, known for winning “Norwegian Love Island”, does not understand the criticism.
He married after the breach. Hawkland: – I deeply regretted it
– Of course, you have to take a tour to see if people are there for the right reasons. If so, it doesn't matter what they've done before, says Klemp, who in the series is married to Victoria Schramm (30).
“I was hoping to find love and then I thought this was a great concept,” he continues.
Catherine Branagh, who starred in “Good Luck Guys” and “Cash/Date,” also disagrees with the criticism.
– Saying that people who knew each other from a previous program are not looking for love, what does that have to do with it? I don't think people realize how lonely it can be in public. Everyone knows something about you and has formed an opinion about you.
-My biggest dream is to find love. TV was never the focus – it was finding a man.
The man who Branagh “found”, or who was chosen for her by television producers, is Remy George Al-Ashqar (34 years old). The pair seem to be doing well so far on the series – despite critics saying the real-life contestants aren't looking for a real-life partner.
– I am a love fairy, and if anyone is going to participate in a program like this, it is the love fairy, Prana insists.
– Warm and kind people
Click on the contact at Warner Bros. Discovery's Ola-Magnus Svihus tells Dagbladet that they are “very proud and satisfied” with the participants in this year's season.
He stresses that even if participants are there mainly to get married, they must also be able to make good television.
– When you make a program like this, it is important to find participants who are not only looking for love, but also able to convey the experience to the viewers. The contestants of Season 8 are kind and warm people who reveal their hearts to the viewers through this love experience. Couples are brought together by professional matchmakers, psychologists and couples therapists, who have tried to find as many good matches as possible, with the aim of creating good and lasting relationships.
