(Elbil24): You don’t have to be particularly interested in cars to have a relationship with a DeLorean brand and a DMC-12 model. This was the car used in the legendary movie trilogy Back to the futureFrom the 80s and 90s, working as a flying machine – which took main character Marty McFly from 1985 to 1955, then to 2015 and finally to 1885.

However, the car brand’s story is sad and short. The DMC-12 was the only model ever to go into production, and unlike the car from the movie, it couldn’t travel in time, fly, or drive very fast.
Production stopped after 9,200 copies early in 1982, but many cars are still on the road – Even in Norway.

DeLorean reappears
But now new life is finally being breathed into the car brand. Texas based company DeLorean Motor Companywhich has owned the rights to the DeLorean brand since 1995, just released the first images of a soon-to-be-produced electric sports car.
Enthusiasts are pleased that this car also receives the legendary gull wings, and in the specification list is not the usual 0-62, but 0-88 mph. The reason, of course, is that so quickly the car jumped backwards – or forwards – just in time.

And if you’re wondering how fast the new electric sports car can reach that speed, the answer is 4.35 seconds. 0-100 should be done in about 3 seconds and top speed stops at 250 kilometers per hour, which puts it in the same class as the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air, two current US sedans.

Italian design
The design was created by the reputable Turin-based company Italdesign. It’s obviously sporty and at first glance it might be a little reminiscent of the advertised one Polestar 5 And the New ET7. But the solution to the door is completely different. There are only two wings that cover the front and rear seats on each side.
Incidentally, according to several sources, the gull wings of the DMC-12 must have inspired Tesla when they designed the Model X.
The DeLorean Alpha5 will be shown publicly for the first time in August, and the goal is to start production in 2024. Elbil24 will of course return with all the information about the DeLorean Alpha5 once we learn more.
