Elon Musk says his new artificial intelligence company xAI will use publicly available messages from Twitter as training for the software behind the AI models.
Musk, who owns Twitter and is chairman of automaker Tesla, said at a Twitter Spaces event on Friday that his companies should mutually benefit from development work and that the AI company could help accelerate Tesla’s work through autonomous driving. cars.
Musk has previously criticized other AI companies for developing technology that he believes does not consider any risks AI could bring to humanity.
On Friday, he repeated what he said on Wednesday when announcing the creation of xAi that his artificial intelligence project aims to “increase understanding of the universe.” He thinks it’s important to create an alternative to Google, which is behind the AI service Bard, and Microsoft-backed OpenAI, which is behind ChatGPT, and develop intelligence that can solve problems in the same way that humans do.
At the same time, Musk has accused all of the AI companies of training their language models using Twitter data, which he believes they used illegally.
