(The newspaper online): Between 8 and 9 a.m. Tuesday, the price of electricity in Eastern Norway, Central Norway and Northern Norway will rise to levels most people thought we were done with.
NOK 4.84 per kWh – before adding online rent.
The same price will apply to Sweden, Finland, the Baltic countries and the eastern parts of Denmark.
Cold problems and Sweden
The main reason is the extremely low temperatures covering large parts of Norway and Sweden, but also extending into Eastern Europe.
Furthermore, there are problems with Swedish nuclear power at the Ringhals 4 reactor in Sweden. The reactor is expected to start operating again tomorrow.
-It’s private. We have a reactor in Sweden, and it failed. Meanwhile, it is very cold in northern Norway and northern Sweden, with very little wind, causing a power deficit in Sweden, which supplies power to Finland and the Baltics, according to senior analyst Benjamin Thomassen at Volue Insight.
Cheapest in southwest Norway
On the other hand, temperatures will be surprisingly low in southern and western Norway, which will receive almost German prices as a result of relatively good wind production. This is the same situation we are in on Monday.
I think prices will fall again
A change in weather is expected in the middle of the week.
– It will be moderate during the week. It won’t be like this for the rest of the winter, Thomassen promised.
