It has consequences To develop renewable energy. But the consequences of closing our eyes and hoping that the climate crisis will pass, and that there will be no energy shortage, are much greater.
Four years later NTE is now opening the Nedre Fiskumfoss hydroelectric power station in the municipality of Grunge. It is a milestone for us. The power station that has been there since 1946 has served us well and contributed to the development of Tronder. We have spent more than a billion kroner to build a new plant here, and it will supply 50,000 people in Trondheim with clean hydroelectric energy for generations to come. Now the new station will borrow water from Namsen for a few seconds to generate clean energy, before we return the water and it continues its journey towards the sea.
The station is The largest hydropower project in Trøndelag since the 1990s, Nydri Viskomvos is the fifth hydropower station that NTE has upgraded in recent years. We are planning to modernize several hydropower stations in Namsen, and are studying the possibility of building a new power station in Trongfosn in Namskogan and Verdalselva. At the same time, we are involved in projects related to wind energy both at sea and on land, in the field of solar energy, hydrogen and thermal energy. Why do we do this? Because combining the wise use of our available electricity with more renewable energy is important to solve the climate crisis and to create more growth and development in Trøndelag.
Historically, Norway He had a surplus of energy; Supported by abundant access to hydroelectric power. On the other hand, in Trøndelag we have used more electricity than is produced, and forecasts are that central Norway is heading towards an energy deficit. Today, it is wind energy in Füssen that maintains the energy balance. At the same time as the need for energy increased, energy development in Norway remained almost stagnant. This is the backdrop against which Norway is now entering the years that will be crucial as to whether we will be able to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and eliminate them completely by 2050.
Are we going to make it happen? To produce more renewable energy, we must turn over all the stones. Therefore, we are in dialogue with several municipalities on how to address the challenges together. The Municipal Council of Verdal wants a nice development of Verdalsvassdraget so that they can produce more renewable energy while taking care of the salmon at the same time. Then they can also regulate the water to reduce flooding and flooding damage.
But more hydropower not enough. If we are to meet the climate goals set for 2030, we believe onshore wind is a necessary part of the solution. The Nærøysund municipal council has agreed that NTE can begin work on an impact assessment for the Ytre Vikna wind farm expansion. The municipality of Hasvik in Finnmark has agreed to the possibility of conducting an impact assessment of the expansion of the wind farm in Donisfjord. At the same time as we look at the potential for more onshore wind, we are working with energy provider RWE to participate in the government licensing process to build floating offshore wind at Utsira Nord, off the coast of Rogaland.
Built last year We are a pilot hydrogen production plant for the marine sector at Krakoya in Naröysund, and two months ago we produced the first green hydrogen at the plant. The plant is the first in our plans for a network of hydrogen stations across Norway.
More and more sheep Open their eyes to how much electricity they use, and look at solutions that enable them to produce their own electricity. So-called local energy production is usually done with the help of solar cells installed on roofs and walls, or by using geothermal heat to heat buildings and hot water. In addition, more people are now able to use less electricity than in the past; Simply because they have become aware of their own consumption. Smarter use of energy and reducing waste as much as possible is a prerequisite for reaching the goal.
Whatever the politicians If he chooses to move forward to get more power, the goal is to do so as sustainably as possible. We believe it is important for local communities to participate in renewable energy development, and to be compensated for making land available for projects that benefit the community as a whole. There is no doubt that the reindeer herding industry must also be part of future solutions. If we want to manage this, we believe that central politicians must reach a common national energy settlement. It has been done before – as in oil policy, the oil fund, and the pension settlement – and it must be done to solve the greatest challenge of our time.
It is urgent that Put solutions in place. Climate challenges will not disappear on their own. It must be resolved through concrete actions. For NTE, it is about creating several renewable bark cathedrals like Nedre Fiskumfoss – for water, wind, solar, heat production and hydrogen.
its just Six years to 2030. By then, Norway will have halved its climate emissions. Now, as a society, we must take measures that will have an impact on the generations that come after us. It will require a lot of all of us. But there is no way around it.
