Manchester United – Manchester City 2-1:
Manchester United picked up all three points at home against rivals Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
It was City who took the lead in the second half through Jack Grealish, but within a few magical seconds the hosts turned the game around and scored twice. Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford scored against United.
The result means United are now up to 38 points after 18 Premier League games this season and therefore just one point behind City in the table. Josep Guardiola’s men have 39 points from 18 games.
discussed goal
United’s equalizing goal was of the controversial kind. Marcus Rashford was clearly offside when the ball was played to him, but the striker passed the ball, without touching it, to Bruno Fernandes who scored.
– Sky Sports correspondent Peter Smith said this is a decision that will be discussed for several days.
He added, after the situation, that the Manchester City players were angry.
Journalist Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo was among those who responded that the goal had been allowed.
– It’s pathetic, he wrote on Twitter during the match.
Former Premier League player Didi Hamann was not particularly affected by the decision.
– How can it be approved. This is the most ridiculous decision I’ve ever seen! And he wrote on Twitter, “Bring back football to us.”
Bruno: – It doesn’t affect the game
Tor Ole Skullerud was a Viaplay expert in the match and also noted the circumstances surrounding the 1-1 goal.
A very special situation. “City set their line absolutely right and let Rashford escape offside,” he said.
Top scorer Bruno Fernandes summed up the situation like this after the match to Sky Sports.
– I was on my way to the goal and Marcus saw I was in a better position. I didn’t know if any of us were offside. Rashford doesn’t influence the game in any way as there was no one near him. The closest City player was closer to me than him.
Soon after, Rashford scored and secured a dramatic derby victory for the home team.
Haaland is deep
The home team had the initiative throughout the first half. United also created the biggest chances in the first 45 minutes.
Manchester City, on the other hand, were extraordinarily sloppy in parts of the game and barely created a scoring chance before the break.

Already ten minutes later, the hosts had a good chance after City fumbled the ball in their own half. Christian Eriksen set up Bruno Fernandez inside the penalty area, but the Portuguese hit the ball wide from a slightly tilted position.
City’s biggest chance in the first half went to Erling Braut Haaland. He got half the ball from the United defense after 24 minutes, gave way, and fired. However, Fred threw himself in and stopped the finale.
The Norwegian often roamed the field a lot during the first half. At times, it might seem that the striker was an extra midfielder and not the spearhead we are used to seeing as in the City team.

Dangerous Rashford
Marcus Rashford was dangerous in the United transfer and after 34 minutes came close to scoring. Rashford was sent across the left wing and past the onrushing Ederson. It was a bit of a sharp corner and Manuel Akanji got on the right and blocked.
Soon after, the same man was moving again. Once again, Rashford was sent on to Ederson on the left wing. This time it was a slightly nasty touch that spoiled it for the United favourite, and Ederson managed to save.
On the eve of the half, Rashford suffered an injury and was sidelined. It looked bleak for the United striker, who had to be let off the field, but after the rest he still made it out to Old Trafford.

Grealish with a head
The home team still makes one change in the first half. Anthony Martial came out and the Brazilian Anthony came.
City also made changes early in the second half, including bringing Jack Grealish in place of Phil Foden after 58 minutes.
It paid off quickly for Josep Guardiola’s team. City had more and more possession in the second half and in the 60th minute paid off. Kevin De Bruyne is played by Riyad Mahrez. The Belgian dragged himself past Casemiro and made it to the finish line before he entered. The ball found substitute Grealish’s header and the Englishman sent the visitors ahead at Old Trafford.
The top scorer had been on the field for just three minutes and 13 seconds when he moved into the net.
turning process
In the 78th minute, Manchester United responded in controversial fashion. The ball was played to Rashford, but he was out of contact with the ball in an offside position. The ball instead passed to Bruno Fernandes, who sent it past Ederson into the net.
The assistant referee initially waved offside at Rashford, but the decision was overturned and the goal was approved.
Soon after, the ball was in the net again and once again Manchester United could celebrate. Bruno Fernandes played in front of Alejandro Garnacho and shot in front of the goal. There, Rashford was in place and feinted the ball over the line. Thus, the game turned out in a matter of seconds.
City were never able to respond to this and so ended up losing Erling Braut Haaland and his teammates.
