On Sunday evening, England begins its European Championship campaign, aiming to lift the long-awaited trophy for the first time. On the way there, few are more important to the Three Lions than Declan Rice.

The 25-year-old has been one of Arsenal's most important players in their pursuit of the Premier League title, and is the heart of an England side brimming with attacking talent.

The central midfielder is known to have a tremendous motor, and if we are to believe the star himself, it is a special dish that is the reason he can endure running like that.

Eat pancakes before the game

In a longer interview with Men's health Ahead of the European Commission meeting, Rice speaks candidly about the dietary change he has made over the past year.

Previously, he always ate fish and vegetables before matches, but when he came to Arsenal there was something completely different on his lunch plate on match days.

“I saw all the players sitting and eating pancakes before the game and I thought: ‘What is going on here?’” Rice begins.

Although he was skeptical at first, he tried it and was shocked by the results.

– To be completely honest, this was a “game changer.” They give you a real boost of energy. “I think that's why I can run like crazy on the field,” Rice says.

-Best change I've made

Pancakes are now an essential part of the midfielder's matchday ritual, something he brings to the national team huddle.
