Fire in dense wooden building in center of Stavanger – NRK Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

The police informed about the fire at 10.24 pm. According to Stavanger Aftenblad The fire was detected by a heat-seeking camera spread across the city.

No people were found inside the burnt wooden house. Police confirmed this to NRK on Saturday morning.

But the house is completely damaged.

Overrated

When fire engines, police and ambulances arrived, the entire house was engulfed in flames. Firefighters were called from three stations: Varmen, Schancheholen and Kvernevik.

– The scope is limited to one building, but there is a risk of spread, Acting Fire Chief Tom Meyer said at 11 p.m.

On Saturday morning, police denied that the fire had spread to more buildings.

The fire started in a detached house on several floors in Hedlandskätten in central Stavanger. It is currently unknown how the fire started.

The municipality of Stavanger owns the house, which must remain unoccupied.

At 11.30 am, NRK is informed that the fire is under control in the steep and dense building and there is no risk of the fire spreading further.

Residents of several neighboring houses were evacuated by the police.

Neighbors at the center are encouraged to cover windows and vents, turn off ventilation systems and prevent smoke from escaping.

Turned off last night

Police say the fire was extinguished a quarter of an hour before midnight, but firefighters continue to battle the blaze throughout the night.

Police reiterate that there are no reports of people staying at the unoccupied home.

Firefighters are currently searching the parts of the building that were damaged by the fire.

Police said smoke was thick and low in the area and anyone who inhaled smoke should contact health services.

– Neighbors can now ventilate. It’s smoke-free outside, the police write on Twitter at 00:04.
