According to credible journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are very interested in Anthony and should have been in touch already to see if a possible transfer of the Brazilian could be made this summer.
The 22-year-old winger impressed Ajax a lot especially last season, including some very strong performances in the Champions League.
One of those who have noticed Anthony is football commentator Paul Thomas Clay, who, among other things, follows the Eredivisie closely. He believes United fans have a lot to look forward to if Anthony is signed to the red shirts.
– He has become a very good player. He’s been a very important part of the Ajax squad that we’ve seen in the last couple of years, Clay tells Nettavizen about Anthony.

– It bothered me
But although the young Brazilian has already managed to vote in Ajax, Clay says it was a little slower with him initially at the Dutch big club.
– It annoyed me a little bit at first, because you see there’s a lot of talent, but sometimes that fun just takes its place a little bit. When he arrived, he was a bit untidy, but he was very technically talented. Clay says the dribbling wing that hasn’t always been very effective can be a little off.

However, it didn’t take Anthony long to become more efficient. In his first season, he scored ten goals and ten assists for Ajax, while last season he scored 12 goals and ten assists.
He became more and more educated in the best European football, with the result that the dribbling wing became more effective as well.
– Has the ability to pull players, pull multiple players in a row and speed up the attack. Some of the dribbling wings lose some momentum as you go forward, but he pushed them away a bit. Clay says what he does is more and more effective.
And while the Brazilian may at first glance appear as a slightly skinny winger, it’s his physique that is one of the things that impressed Clay the most.
Despite his size, he is incredibly strong and has good balance. So although it looks small, there are a number of defenders who have faced some surprises. Expert says it bites well.

– He can do well there
Manchester United is the club that the 22-year-old has been linked with most recently. According to Romano, Anthony’s team has asked Ajax to listen to their bids this summer, despite his high price tag.
Whether Anthony would fit in well with United, Clay thinks, is a bit difficult to determine, as he could quickly end up vying with Jadon Sancho for a place in the starting line-up.

Both have the wing as their favorite location. But Clay has no doubts Anthony could do well in the Premier League.
– He can handle pressure and loves both negative and positive attention, I think that’s not a problem. I also think it deals with the bodily well. He has no biscuit ankles. He can do well there.
Clay believes that the fact that former Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag is now captaining United, is an advantage for Anthony, should he end up at Manchester United. Antony has flourished under the leadership of ten Hagues at Ajax.
He knows how to make the best use of it. I think it can be very positive, says Clay.
