Just a few weeks before the highlight of the season, Planica’s co-star Frida Carlsson ended up in a car accident at her home in Sweden.
She chose to keep it a secret until the season was over.
– The first thing I said after the explosion was ‘I’m not going to any hospital – I’m going to train now’. But I was in shock, she says in an interview with Express.
The car crashed completely, but made it to the World Championships and won four medals, although it was not certain for a long time whether it would be able to participate at all.
In addition to the neck pain, the accident left its mental mark.
– I was shocked for a long time after that. It’s at the top of my list of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced. After a long time I got hysterical and scared easily.
But it didn’t stop there: At the last training camp before the World Championships, in Toplac, Italy, the phone kept ringing during a skating session.

At first she didn’t care, but eventually she saw the arrival of an SMS from the police – about the accident from Östersund.
“You must answer now! This is an interrogation by the police.”
It ended up being a tense interrogation of Carlson over the phone. Hold on for a while.
– Walking around and skating for an hour – at the same time I was part of a police interview. I just wanted to end that conversation. But the police wanted me to describe how it all happened, all the details really.
And she adds:
– So I said that “I was going to training, I was nervous and I wasn’t paying attention” – and I took all the responsibility. Just give me the fine. I just wanted to hang up.
The star states that she had to pay a fine afterwards.
