On July 1, the municipality of Mogan in Gran Canaria will impose more restrictions, CanariaVisen reports. Initially, the measures continue until the summer.
– Among other things, the water supply for bathing and footbaths on municipal beaches has been closed. This is also being done in several fountains, and the municipality will limit irrigation of green areas to a minimum, the online newspaper wrote.

The reason must be lack of water and prolonged drought.
– We must implement these measures before the situation becomes more serious, says city councilor Ernesto Hernández, according to Canariavesen.
Hernandez also stated that the municipality is working on other measures that will correct the water shortage in the long term.

According to Canaria magazine The municipality must have encouraged local residents and visitors to reduce their water consumption.
