Hogesund punishes a fan for making a racist reference to the coach in a podcast.
The club writes that in one press release.
– The ban comes as a result of a completely unacceptable use of words that we cannot accept as a club. “This happens repeatedly in the same episode, and other derogatory terms have also been used previously regarding one of our employees who crossed the line,” general manager Martin Voskanger tells the club's website.
It is Master Trainer Saniv Manoharan who aims at the concepts in the podcast. The episode was deleted earlier this week following backlash from the club.
“We were also not very impressed with the apology the podcast editors made afterward,” Voskanger says.
“The club's sanctioning committee has unanimously decided that the person will be banned from attending Haugesund Sparebank Arena for 35 matches. The person must also complete a behavior change program before being welcomed back to Haugesund Sparebank Arena,” the press release read.
The club has been in contact with Norsk Topfotball, which has been reacting to this signal. He announces that a national campaign against racism and incitement will be implemented in all arenas next season.
