On April 10, police in Lake County, Illinois, received a report of a person with gunshot wounds in an apartment building.
When they got to the apartment, they found the man in bed – with a gunshot wound to the leg.

According to a press release, the police wrote that the 62-year-old had lost a lot of blood.
Further investigation revealed that he was dreaming that someone broke into his house. He pulled out his pistol and shot what he thought was the intruder. When he fired the shot, he shot himself and woke up from the dream, the statement said.
21-year-old died in a weight-loss camp
The 62-year-old man was taken to hospital. The bullet pierced the man and lodged him in the bed.
Police confirmed that the man’s apartment had not been broken into.
Arrested
It later emerged that the man had been denied his gun license, although he still had it.
The license, called a FOID card in Illinois, is mandatory for everyone who owns a gun in the state.

According to CBS News, it is not known why, how or when the man’s license was revoked.
The 62-year-old was charged this week with possession of a weapon without a valid license. He is also charged with reckless use of a firearm against himself.
He was arrested on 12 June but was later released on bail. The next court session is scheduled for June 29.
