The fire department has brought under control the massive fire that broke out in an apartment building in Tissen.
Housing association president Terje Hamer (56) was down in the basement for a while. On his way up he heard a fire alarm. When he arrived, the entire apartment was filled with black smoke.
He tells Optenposten that the fire brigade arrived very quickly.
The police and fire departments were out with a large number of personnel.
Police said it was heavily burnt and in danger of spreading. Alexander Østerhaug at the police operations center told Aftenposten that the fire service was working to bring the fire under control.
Police said they had all the residents under control at 21.35.
After 8:30 p.m., fire crews doused the fire, police said. But half an hour later flames were still shooting through the roof. In addition, there is strong smoke development.
– The building is relatively new with good partitions, but the fire is in the roof, so it will take some time to get to the fire department, Rotterud says.
Firefighters will be on duty throughout the evening and night.
40 people have been expelled from the constituency. They have the option of staying in a nursery school nearby. According to Aftenposten’s correspondent who was at the scene, they were given woolen blankets to wear over their shoulders.
Police do not yet have an overview of all residents.
