Confirmed: Bob Bradley takes over for Stabæk
On Tuesday, Stabaek’s coach Lars Bohenen was sacked. And at a press conference on Sunday afternoon, Stabaek confirmed that Bob Bradley would take over as coach. He has initially signed a contract for the rest of the current season, but the intention is to extend it. Azar Karadas will also join the coaching staff as an assistant.
-I’m excited to be back. Stabaek is a special club, and the reason for that is because of the great people, Bradley says in the press conference.
The 65-year-old American was also the club’s coach from 2015 to 2016. He was then the national team manager for both the United States and Egypt. In recent years he has been a coach for clubs in the USA and Canada.
Stabæk is currently second in the Elite Series with 16 points in 19 games. However, Bradley praises the work Bohenen has done at the club.
– His work brought the team back to the Elite Series, and the work he did will be there as a foundation for me and Azar, he says.
– We have a lot of work ahead of us, and we must start as soon as possible, says Azar Karadas.
Through NRK, Stabek was promised by Bradley supporters that the club would keep the venue. At the same time, he realizes that the matter is urgent.
“We have to get to know the team quickly and figure out how we can become a more complete team,” he says.
