Since Wednesday morning, Nord-Odal’s mobile coverage has come and gone for Telia customers.
On Thursday, the mayor was informed that the problems would be fixed at 17.00.
The problems have not yet been corrected, Mayor Ragnhild Hagenrod Moen said.
It was the newspaper glumdalene Who mentioned the case for the first time.
Concerned about emergency preparedness
Moen says she is reacting to the fact that there is no plan if the mobile network fails.
“I think it’s scary, in terms of readiness, to be so weak,” says Moen in an email to TV 2.
She says she herself asked to get out of the tethering period of her mobile operator using the Telia network, in order to switch to a competing operator and thus restore coverage on the phone.
– From the mayor’s chair I can say that it is good to give up trouble, but in fact it is not!
The lack of a mobile network for several days caused problems for the municipality. In offices, they can work locally on computers, but the mayor says there are problems when staff in the health service have to call their patients by phone.
– Some seniors still have a land line, so they’ve been worked on. Moen writes that it is alarming that the land line disappears and the mobile phone network becomes less well equipped.
Do not receive information
The mayor is faced with not getting information about what to do about the error on the mobile network. She herself had to send an email to her phone operator to find out where the problem lay.
– I was told that there are challenges with some transmitters in the area.
According to the email they received, they were hoping to resolve the issue by 17:00 on Thursday.
It did not.
– I tried to find information on the site, but here I found mixed answers. Everything from the fact that there are no known bugs, to the issue being resolved on June 30th, she says.
Focus on error correction
Telia Norway’s head of communications, Ellen Cecilie Scheen, confirmed to TV 2 that they had problems with some base stations in Nord-Odal after a major fiber outage from their resource. The fiber break occurred on Wednesday.
We have a complete focus on debugging and are working to restore mobile coverage as quickly as possible, says Shane.
It says those customers who are affected by the issues and who have access to the internet through the fixed network can use WiFi Tale on their mobile as a workaround.
We deeply apologize for the inconvenience this has caused to affected customers in the region, concludes Shane.
