The Ski Council states that it is aware of “the challenges of cooperation between Clas Brede Bråthen, the Ski Jump Committee and the professional environments of the Ski Association”.
“In recent days, the Board has received a comprehensive review of the case by the Secretary-General, the Chairman of the Ski Jump Committee and the Outside Advocate of the Ski Association. It appears that Bråthen has long had a confrontational and unacceptable form of communication and behavior, which has led to unrest, insecurity and an unsustainable situation Internally and vis-à-vis important stakeholders externally. The Norwegian Skating Association emphasizes that it is not Prathin’s views, but rather his communication and unacceptable behaviour.”
VG was in contact with Clas Brede Bråthen after the Ski Association sent the press release:
– I think it’s strange that a skateboarder would make such a decision without asking to hear my account beforehand. Furthermore, I have no comment at the moment, says VG’s Jump Director.
Bråthen’s attorney, Marit Håvemoen also confirms that Bråthen was not invited to the talks the Ski Association has held with its board:
«It was an internal meeting and he doesn’t know what information was given or what the board of directors dealt with. So it is difficult to comment on. In addition to the fact that the opportunity for adversarial proceedings was not considered. This meeting is also irrelevant to the question of whether a permanent employee has job security. As mentioned earlier, we have not received any information about the circumstances that indicate a valid reason for the termination of the employment relationship. In the meeting between the two parties in January, this was also determined by the other party. So Bråthen continues as Sports Director, and maintains the condition of permanent employment in the Ski Federation » You write in a letter to VG.
On the other hand, the Ski Association writes the following in its press release:
“Bråthen has been sporting director since 2005. He has contributed to very good sporting results, but his behavior over time and his unwillingness to adjust this in line with our reasonable expectations means that the Skating Association cannot extend the cooperation.
Against this background, the Board of Directors will unanimously express its full confidence and support to the Secretary General and the Jump Committee on the decision not to extend the Prathin commitment.” Skateboard writes.
Clas Brede Bråthen has broad support among Norwegian jumpers and national team manager Alexander Stockl in a row with his employer.
