Netherlands file: Samir Bin Ghanem suffered a strong blow during tonight’s match against Sweden, which the Dutch team lost 28-29.
The warning lights flashed like a familiar line in Amsterdam as the winger fell to the ground screaming in pain after 42 minutes.
Replays showed he twisted his leg when he landed. Stunned teammates and opponents once again stood on the ground and watched the power plug wince in pain.
Many of them were clearly shocked, and some were moved to tears.
Bin Ghanem was taken on a stretcher and immediately taken to hospital with an ice bandage tightly wrapped around the knee. His teammate Luke Staines, a major sports star, gave the boy a warm and tearful hug as he was carried away.
The Dutch national team also received a shocking message before the tournament. Star player Kai Smits cannot play due to myocarditis.
Norway did not get a point in the main round and will probably have to win all four matches to reach the semi-finals. The Netherlands is waiting on Friday.
– It will be difficult, but it is still completely possible. We can win all the matches, and there are many teams that can beat each other. We will not give up, this is what national team manager Jonas Wille said about Norway's chances in the European Championship.
