Mohamed Salah scored the biggest win with Liverpool, but that did not stop the Egyptian from signing a new three-year contract this summer. Unlike Sadio Mane, who felt he needed a new challenge in his football career, the 30-year-old stayed at Anfield to collect more titles and bring more success to the Reds at Anfield.
The Liverpool gem joined the club in 2017, but he did not win his first title with the club until the 2018/19 season. Then he was part of the team that won the Champions League against Tottenham in Madrid. The possibility of winning the Super Cup the following summer and the World Cup for Club Teams opened in December 2019.
In the same season, the team also won the Premier League, although the cup was awarded only in the summer of 2020. In the previous season, two more titles entered Anfield, namely the Domestic Cup, the FA Cup and the League Cup. .
This means that quite a few of the red group have claimed six different titles at Anfield, but there is currently one missing to complete the entire roster. Mo Salah and the rest of the squad can win it tonight when they face Manchester City in the Community Shield.
– I won almost everything with this team, Salah says about his success for Liverpool echo.
– I didn’t really notice it until Trent (Alexander Arnold) came up to me and said it after the FA Cup Final.
Al-Masry achieved great collective success at Anfield, but also won several individual titles with the club. During his five years with the Reds, he was named Liverpool Player of the Year on three occasions. Named the Premier League Player of the Year in his first season in red, the 30-year-old has won the African Player of the Year award on two occasions. This does not prevent Salah from wanting to win a lot with the club.
Collectively and individually, I’ve won most things with Liverpool, but there’s always room to win more and I always want to win something for the second, third or fourth time. This is my mentality, says Al-Masry.
Nunes and Mane
This summer, Darwin Nunez was brought in to play alongside Salah in the front three at Anfield. It is uncertain whether the Uruguayan will start tonight’s Liverpool match, but Salah is looking forward to getting to know the new Liverpool striker.
– I’m very excited and I really want to play with him. He had a good season and played well against us both away and at home (with Benfica in the Champions League last year)
This summer, teammate Sadio Mane vanished the other way out of Anfield in favor of new adventures at Bayern Munich. The two African players have played on the Liverpool wing since Salah arrived at the club.
– I will miss him. He has had several good seasons with the club and I wish him all the best for the future. I also wish Darwin (Nunez) good luck and hope he scores a lot of goals for us, concludes Salah.
Liverpool and Mohamed Salah meet Manchester City in the Community Shield tonight at 18:00. The match will be broadcast on Viaplay and VSport 1.
