Ikea Norge has joined the ranks of companies to stop selling Mondelez products. But the company claims it’s not about the boycott.
IKEA Norway’s Director of Communications, Joakim Dagenborg, confirmed this to VG.
– We already previously planned to phase it out, without it being associated with the blacklist. The reason for this is that we are developing our own products in this product category, says the Communications Director.
– We have a few items in the range that are produced by Mondelez.
These products include Daim, Twist, and Maribou chocolate.
The blacklist that Dagenborg is referring to is Ukraine’s list of large companies that operate in Russia and, as they see it, contribute indirectly to Russia’s war economy, so to speak.
After it became known that Mondelez was on this list, which among other things owns the Norwegian company Freya, there was a storm around the company.
On Saturday, it became known that IKEA of Sweden is phasing out Mondelez products. They provide the same justification as IKEA of Norway.
Many Norwegian companies have boycotted Mondelez products on the basis of the blacklist. It concerns the following:
- DNT
- Sass
- SJ Norway
- Classic norway hotels
- the strawberry
