“Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra” looks amazing.
Rise of Hydra will be released next year
The game was showcased during Epic Games' “State of Unreal,” where the company showed off Unreal Engine 5.4 with, among other things, more detailed mosaics using UE5's Nanite technology. It's no surprise that Rise of Hydra was the first game released, because the Unreal Engine 5 game looks impossibly gorgeous with the best graphics we've seen. The game will make use of parts of the new Nanite and Lumen hidden in 5.4.
The game, which is being developed by Skydance New Media, will launch next year (they're also working on a Star Wars game, announced for 2022.) It's an exciting studio in its own right, because it's headed up by Amy Hennig. Hennig is behind game series such as Legacy of Kain, Jak and Daxter and not least Uncharted when it was part of Naughty Dog. We write “at least” because the Uncharted series has been known to push the boundaries on Playstation.
Funcom was also on stage showing a sneak peek at Dune: Awakening's level of detail. It is not known when the game will be released, but rumors point to an early access test this year.
