Jude Bellingham (20 years old), Real Madrid’s Golden Calf player, won the Best Young Player award at the Ballon d’Or ceremony held in Paris on Monday evening.
Thus, the Briton became the fifth winner of the award supervised by the sports magazine France Football. Kylian Mbappé became the first cup winner in 2018.
Bellingham has had an eventful year. His career has really taken off after his move to Real Madrid this summer.
The 20-year-old has scored 13 goals in as many matches for the Spanish capital club, putting him on par with club legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Alfredo Di Stefano.
The 2022/23 season is used as a basis for awarding the Young Player of the Year award, and there, as usual, Bellingham did well for Borussia Dortmund.
He was named Bundesliga Player of the Year when Bayern Munich lost the yellow shirts at the finish line in the battle for league gold.
Bellingham also performed well for England and became the country’s second-youngest top scorer during the World Cup in Qatar.
These are the previous winners:
* 2022: Spanish Javi (Barcelona)
* 2021: Spanish Pedri (Barcelona)
* 2020: Canceled due to the Corona pandemic
* 2019: Matthijs de Ligt, Netherlands (Ajax/Juventus)
* 2018: Kylian Mbappe (France) (Paris Saint-Germain)
