A strong 7.0 magnitude earthquake rocked the Bali Sea in Indonesia on Monday evening, Norway time.
The epicenter was located 201 km north of the city of Mataram in Indonesia, at a depth of about 500 km, according to the European Seismological Center. EMSC.
There should be no risk of a tsunami as a result of an earthquake. No injury was reported either.
Julie Olvet Mo (21 years old) from Baroom is vacationing with her friend Lynn Madland (21 years old) in Bali. They were asleep when the earthquake happened.
– We were awakened at first by a slight shaking, then it became violent. “We thought the whole apartment was going to collapse,” she said over the phone from Al Jazeera.
It was just after four in the morning when this happened.
Ultvit-Mo says it felt as if the quake lasted a very long time, about ten minutes.
– We arrived two days ago and will be here for a month. It was a bit of a rough start to the holiday, she says.
By early Tuesday morning, they had spoken to several local residents who said the danger had passed, says Olvet-Mo.
The Bali Sea is the waters north of the Indonesian islands of Bali and Lombok, to the Kangyan Islands. It is considered part of the Pacific Ocean, and forms the border of the Pacific Ocean with the Indian Ocean.
