David suffered from Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, an arrhythmia, and this is what caused his death, according to reports. News. The attack occurred while he was surfing.
David, who also competed professionally in skateboarding, had previously suffered several bouts, and in August he suffered one that nearly cost him his life while at home on Oahu.
He has been referred to as a prodigy in surfing, and the entire surfing community is in mourning after the news of his death.

– It’s heartbreaking. He was such a great boy it’s really sad. I remember when he came to Red Bull’s house in Hawaii when he was 12 years old. I grilled and gave him some food. Fanning wrote that without asking, he washed the dishes afterwards.
