Amazon owns the rights to show midweek rounds of the Premier League, and Jurgen Klopp met the rights holder for an interview following the 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Wednesday night.
It started off pleasantly, before the TV announcer made a very small joke about the famous early matches. He said: “Your favorite time is the match against Crystal Palace on the weekend,” referring to the Reds’ match away to the London club next Saturday at 1.30 pm.
This is the fourth time this autumn that Liverpool have had to play an early match on a Saturday. The previous three matches came after the national team rested, and now it comes after a midweek evening match away from home.
“Brave of you to make a joke,” Klopp replied when he interrupted the reporter who was about to ask a question.
Klopp added that he cannot bear to talk about the early match with the reporter because he does not work in football. The reporter then responded that he did not want to appear disrespectful, but Klopp believed it was too late.
-You can say whatever you want. “I can’t say what I want,” said Klopp, who then accepted best wishes for the match against Palace before heading to the dressing room.
Andrew Paisley has figures on how many early matches different teams will play, with Liverpool clearly the most involved at this stage. As a rule, there is also talk of away matches:
