Local News, Tromborg | The ponds are drying up in Trømborgfjella – you’re asking the landowners to do something about it

Svein Syversen, a fan of Fjella, thinks this is sad and wants the municipality to help.

The water level in the pools is low. It is leaking and that means the water level is lower. There are two ponds, Ertevannsdraget and Igletjern. The dam is intact and this is one of the reasons for the lack of water flow into the ponds.

Syversen says that the ponds in the Tromborg Mountains are an important cultural monument from the 17th century.

– It’s part of the cultural landscape and the way it looks now looks sad. There needs to be real support and the holistic work has to be done by holistic professionals, Severson says.

Support is sought from the municipality

– Now there is a need for processing to close the dam, and this is the responsibility of the owners of the land. Financial support and materials are needed for this. I have taken it up in both the municipal council and other political committees without receiving any response. The municipality believes that it is not their responsibility. Neither Eidsberg municipality nor Indre Østfold.

Landowners’ Association board member Ole Øivind Lunde says they don’t intend to do anything about it, but let nature sort itself out.

– There are only a few enthusiastic pedestrians who are upset by this, says Ole Øivind Lunde.

This is what ponds look like today

– Now we have to tidy up all the dams in the Irtevan watershed once and for all. Public authorities, such as municipalities, county councils, or state officials must allocate funds. It cannot be charged to landowners or the hunting and fishing association. It has to happen quickly, Syversen tells Smaalenes Avis.
