‘Loki’ Episode 5 gives ‘Infinity War’ and Rom-Com vibes

After the devastating events of last week’s episode, which saw the Time Loom explode and destroy the Time Variance Authority, Loki is slipping back through time just like he returned to TVA in the Season 2 premiere. However, this is where the similarities stop.

In the premiere, Loki’s friends were still working at TVA. Now, they are scattered across different branches of reality with no memory of their lives working for the Time Control Agency. With the help of OB (Ke Huy Quan), Loki is able to gain some control over the time wasting while he works to get the team back together. However, what Loki doesn’t know is that Miss Minutes has activated TVA’s Fail-Safe Protocol, which dismantles the branches and everything inside them.

Just as the Trickster God gathers Mobius, B-15, Casey, and Sylvie (whose memory remains remarkably intact) in the OB lab, Loki watches in horror as everyone he cares about begins to crumble into spaghetti right before his eyes. The whole thing gave hardcore Avengers: Infinity War The sentiment, and Marvel fans have definitely picked up on it.

Although it was terrifying, watching his friends being exposed gave Loki the push to fully control the lapse of time, bringing him back to the moment before they all disintegrated. He reaches basic level at the end of season 2.

Most importantly, the tension is toned down so Marvel fans can fully enjoy the romantic comedy vibe of Episode 5. Not Loki and Sylvie. Well, the emotions were off the chart for Loki and Mobius as their reunion had all the hallmarks of a rom-com, right down to Loki looking sadly at Mobius through the window.
