Two years ago, Swedish handball star Louis Sand (28) played for the women’s team Fleuri, but has now signed a contract with the men’s team Kärra HF, his childhood club.

In 2019, the handball player underwent a comprehensive operation to correct his gender after a functional interruption. Then he went by the name Louise Sand. But this was not the person the handball star wanted to be.

Sand said, “I was born in the wrong body.” Aftonbladet, after he put handball on the shelf 2019.

He has been a professional since 2011, and has been included in a number of international matches for the Sweden women’s national team.

– It’s an incredible challenge. Sand told Aftonbladet that I’m the only passing person in the world that I know of who does this in the handball world.

The 28-year-old has been fighting for the past two years to get back on the handball field. He succeeded in this in May, when he was allowed to train with the Allsvenskan Kärra HF club.

Not only that, he liked the Swede so much that he has now secured a contract with the club.

“After a long journey in everything, we can welcome Louie Sand home to his mother’s club,” the club wrote on their website.

17 years ago, Kärra left HF in favor of a brilliant career on the international handball scene. He has now fought for a contract with our men’s team at Allsvenskan, and in which he succeeded, he continued.

Now the only thing left is that the Handball Association gives the green light to the 28-year-old to play matches.

Sand was part of the Swedish women’s team that won the bronze medal at the 2014 European Championships.
