(Milan – Dortmund 1-3, Paris Saint-Germain – Newcastle 1-1) Things were boiling in the “Group of Death” on Tuesday evening. While Julian Ryerson (26 years old) escaped in horror after an ugly foul, the Paris Saint-Germain star saved a VAR penalty kick that sparked violent reactions.
For Kylian Mbappé and the other PSG stars they struggled mightily against Newcastle. With a loss, they will rely on help to advance.
But the penalty kick at the end of the match means that Paris Saint-Germain’s fate is still in its hands before the final round.
The ball hit defender Tino Livramento in the stomach before cutting off his elbow.
Polish referee Simon Marciniak did not award a penalty kick, but the VAR advised him to look at the screen. Then he pointed to the chalk mark.
– It really surprises me. Then there is a lot that is hands if it is hands. I don’t understand that it’s a punishable hand. It passes through his body and hits his arm. It’s a normal situation and just bad luck, commented football expert Simin Stamso Müller on TV 2’s Goals programme.

It was very heated in the Sky Sports studio:
– It’s a despicable decision. It’s ridiculous, and angered former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood – and was supported by his shocked colleagues on the panel:
– How on earth is a penalty kick for Paris Saint-Germain? Madness! Gary Lineker writes on Twitter/X.
– A shameful decision, concludes former Arsenal player Ray Parlor in the same forum.
Kylian Mbappé scored the penalty kick. Therefore, it is Newcastle and Milan who need Dortmund’s help to progress.

Ryerson has given up on the horror of the blunder
The Germans are in the lead. They got off to a nightmare start when an ugly foul by Julian Ryerson led to a penalty just seconds later.
However, he fled with terror. Veteran Milan player Olivier Giroud fired a weak penalty kick that was blocked by Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Koppel.
A few minutes later, it was Dortmund’s turn to take a penalty kick. Veteran Marco Reus scored the goal.
Samuel Chukwueze equalized for Milan in the 37th minute, but in the second half, James Benoy Gittens and substitute Karim Adeyemi ensured victory for Dortmund.
Wasted opportunity in Paris
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain had the opportunity to secure promotion with a win over Newcastle.
Instead, it was the visitors from Tyneside who seemed to turn everything upside down.
After great preparation work from full-back Tino Livramento, Miguel Almiron moved inside from the right flank. Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma produced a weak rebound that Swedish striker Alexander Isak was able to score easily.
It was a frustrating night for Kylian Mbappe, who had a number of great scoring chances.
Either the ball went wide or the PSG stars were stopped by Nick Pope in the Newcastle cage.
– It is not possible to register on it tonight. “They just have to give up,” commented TV 2 expert Simen Stamsø Møller during the TV 2 target show.
But then rescue came in the form of a penalty kick in extra time.
Dortmund leads by ten points. Paris Saint-Germain has seven points, while Newcastle and Milan each have five points.
In the final round, Paris Saint-Germain will travel to Germany, while Newcastle will visit Milan.
