Mjondalen: On Monday morning, emergency services were out to Hagatjernveien in Mjøndalen, where a fire had broken out in a detached house. Police write that they received a report of smoke at 05.45.
110 Central says shortly after 06:00 that there is heavy smoke in the building, and the fire service is on the scene. As a result of strong smoke billowing from the house and strong winds, the road in front of the house was closed to all traffic until further notice, according to the police report.
South East Police District Operations Manager Victoria Helwig says they currently don’t have an overview of the scope.
We are working to clarify the number of units, but it seems that there are two units in the house. We are in contact with someone registered at the address, and are working with the rest now. Police closed the road at the site to ensure no one could pass there, Helwig says at 06.08.
At 06.23 the police announced on X/Twitter that they were in contact with the homeowner, who said there should be no people inside the house. The fire brigade is still working to extinguish the fire.
The incident commander at the scene, Arne Goodall, says the house is on fire and will burn.
– There is no great risk of the disease spreading, but the fire service is making sure it does not spread. Goodall says neighbors were notified about the smoke, and the road remains closed in both directions.
He went on to say that police quickly confirmed that no one was home when the fire broke out.
“The person was at work and we quickly got control of him, so it was clear early on that there was no one at home,” Goodall confirms.
The fire service requested a tanker to arrive at the scene.
